Social distance zazen

Hello! The secretariat will be in charge this time.
The other day, "Social Distance Zazen" was held at Buttsuji Temple, the main temple of the Rinzai sect of Buttsuji.

Ekiden and long-distance running are the most primitive of all sports and the toughest physically and mentally. Therefore, it is called "mental martial arts", in other words, "mental strength and suppleness" has a great influence on competitiveness and competition results. The players asked themselves "what is their true self" by looking at themselves quietly, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Before the start of zazen, Mr. Keishu Kanda, the president of the Rinzai sect's main temple, Buttsuji, talked about zazen.

(President Keishu Kanda) In zazen, we call it "conditioning, breathing, and centering" and focus on "adjusting posture, breathing, and mind." "Zen" represented by static and "running" represented by dynamic are at the extremes of static and dynamic, but they are in agreement with each other in terms of "conditioning, breathing, and alignment", especially the belly. Emphasis is placed on repetitive training of ceremonial breathing. Training both "running and Zen" means not only practicing running, but also training the mind and body everywhere in daily life, and the synergistic effect has sent out a number of outstanding athletes to the world. ..

It was a good opportunity for the players to think about the meaning of zazen and to reconsider themselves.
